I certainly don't have a conclusion myself, as both an amateur artist and amateur programmer, but I would like to point out that it's pretty much always legal to use open source software (including Stable Diffusion) to profit from. You're undoubtedly doing it *right now*, as websites like YouTube include plenty of open source components. Ostensibly there should be an attribution to the original developers, if not legally at least morally, but yeah just using the software to make money is fine from a legal perspective. However if you sell the software itself, you will likely need to release the source with it.
Note that I didn't say using other artists' work to train the model is legal - that is a different question entirely. I just don't want people to be discouraged from using open source software.
