I am a software engineer too. The strategy I have observed from OpenAI so far (yes, it is a strategy) is not just a software-financial strategy, it's a political strategy. In the market, we call this a burn-rate strategy. OpenAI's losses in this regard are intentional. Because they entered the market late. Google and Meta already had ready systems and data. OpenAI is trying to offset its losses through political connections in order to compete with these companies. We call this political engagement.
