I have been working for close to 31 years now; I have seen more useless workers than useful workers in my entire career over 12 different companies. I am not surprised, considering that most jobs, like CEO, up to customer service and even counseling, could be done better by a machine than a human being. Most people talk about AI as if that was a tangible thing. AI is as tangible as the math running in your calculator in the end, so if something is repetitive and you have some focused math that analyze data and does a good job, it means you don't need a person. And that person can focus on doing something that you cannot do with discrete math and repetitive workflows. We are complaining because low tier jobs are disappearing? But we are not complaining about how little our society evolved, to improve what humans can do? Machines didn't catch up with human beings; it is human beings that found jobs that were repetitive and offload that to other human beings, paying them for it. Now that you can have an automated system that works 24/7 and have no requirements except electricity and hardware to run on it, we experience what happened when we moved from manual work to industrialization. We survived; we will survive also this change. If someone does not survive this change, it means their job was not requiring a human being intellect to be done.
