We can ask the computer questions, and sometimes, we don’t have an answer. All we can do is see how it relates to the human condition. In this sense this type of thing is like a calculator, but it’s output isn’t mathematics, nor does using one make one a mathematician. See, the main most issue here is on two fronts. First, this isn’t AI. It’s a classic dumb program, extracted from AI. The analytical explanation is more complex, I’ll assume you know about computers science basics, if not, just take my word for it. On this front, it’s a photobombing tool. That’s it. It starts with a basis and builds on that based on specific steps. Period. It can’t learn, can’t change, can’t get inspired. It doesn’t have the capacity to put in something of the human experience, it’s not AI. And that brings me to the second part. Given this isn’t self aware AI, it can’t even put in something of the computer experience, which in a self aware AI program is the best we could hope for. A self aware machine can’t understand us, as much as we couldn’t understand it. To make it clearer, we know what an elephant is. We know it’s alive. We consider it has some intelligence. But what that intelligence is and how high and IQ it has is only in relation to our experience and how we see and experience the world, and we don’t experience it from an 9 foot view point, taking up the space of a van, and with a long extremity hanging from our faces that is a lot more like a hand than a nose, but with more abilities than those two in that context. An elephant tackles life a lot more different, it’s condition is very different. For what they need, perhaps the average elephant has an IQ of 130, and what it expresses and does is great for it’s point in evolution. We can’t understand it, and it us. So, even if at some point someone decides to put an actual AI program that generates art on a quantum computer, hook it up to the internet and unleash it with no limitations, this AI which may at some point produce art, will produce art that relates to it’s condition. What we will see and project on it will be just that... projection.
