What about different types of consciousness, like conceptual consciousness, linguistic consciousness or even a type of a proto-consciousness? Take data from star trek the next generation, he's ran by chips, advanced algorithms, processors etc yet he's aware of what he is, has his own thoughts and can make his own decisions and can adapt. In fact data has been proven in star trek tng that he is alive and sentient and has been defended by captain Picard (just using the show as a example I know it's fictional so chill) so is it possible to consider that data and certain types of ai extremely similar?
