My eternal question for the CEOs that are so desperate to replace 90% of their workforce is:
What is step 2?
Let's say they are successful at making an AI that can competantly replace a vast majority of the workforce, and they successfully initatiate the biggest joint mass layoff chain in the history of the human race...
What then? Where are the profits they have wet dreams about every night going to come from? Certainly NOT from a majority of the working class, who are now unemployed and thus have no income to spend. And good luck convincing the AI to buy food/clothes/shelter it doesn't need with the money it isn't paid. I didn't major in econ but even I know that a business can't survive if its customers have no money to spend.
So, again, to these "geniuses" of industry and profit seeking... what was step 2 of the "let's take away the income of our customer base" plan?
