Yangs UBI is awful. Yangs plan is awful this is why: 73,586,000 Americans currently receive a combination of the following services, Supplemental Nutritional Assistance Program (SNAP), Temporary Assistance for Needed Families (TANF), Supplemental Security Income (SSI), and SNAP for Women, Infants, and Child Program (WIC). Those people recieve a higher payment than Yangs UBI those people receive no Benefit from Yangs UBI but are hurt by everything going up 10% by Yangs Value Added Tax. Those same people reveive less if they moved to his UBI and would be poorer again as they would spend all their earnings and be hurt by Yangs 10% price increases due to his VAT. Now take the 73 million Americans that Yang and the CBO say will lose their jobs and never work again due to automation. Those people will move from middle class jobs to living off Yangs UBI which is below the current poverty line. They will be traped in poverty and the poverty line will increase due to Yangs 10% VAT raising the cost of everything. Thats half of America now in poverty. Thats Yang UBI plan as a solution to Automation causing job loses. Awful plan. A real UBI paid for by a wealthtax paying a liveable amount would be fine. But Yangs no.
