One last thought of AI becoming self-aware: There is a famous experiment where they put different animals in front of a mirror. The object is to see if the animal realizes itself in the mirror and sense, of self.
So, what if you showed an AI bot its own code on a monitor, in front of its camera "eye", would it 'see' it and say, "That's me"?
