Fascinating discussion, remarkable intellect. Thank you. The further in I got, it felt more and more to me like Mr. Hinton's misgivings come as much from his personality and personal ideology as they do from an objectively demonstrable menace. I'm the ten millionth person to say: AI is the latest breakthrough in a long and incredible history of humanity-changing breakthroughs. It will no doubt be used for harm, but it will also be used to incredible benefit. And for every AI attacker, there will be an AI defender, etc.. and, yes, I got the part about AI-engineered viruses, but never heard Mr. Hinton mention AI-generated cures. I'm naive maybe, but also not worried. Still a great conversation and I'll look for more reading from Geoffrey Hinton. We need naysayers as much as cheerleaders.
