Do a little research on "The Red Scare" and "McCarthyism" ... This was wide scale persecution and paranoia inspired largely by one person. It grew to include questioning and even imprisonment. Families were torn apart. People were fired from jobs. Brothers were turning in brothers, there were even murders. ... and it was all over something that wasn't even illegal.
Now take note that ALL of that happened by word of mouth and hand written notes.
Next think how much worse that could be with today's communication and massive data bases.
Finally think how quickly that can happen in the hands of AI ....
We should not fear AI so much as we fear the people controlling it.
