I think you strawmenned this a lot. You mention that conpas is just as accurate as a simple equation based on the offenders age sex and prior convictions. Ok, so the only criticism of compas is that it’s too complex with redundant questions and could be skimmed down to only those variable. Great. That’s a still An algorithm that predicts crime (to some degree of accuracy).
