The question is: If everybody is jobless and doesn't get payed... who is consuming (i.e. paying money for) the products these companies offer. If the majority of the population is without a job thus without an income and don't have a very good social security network... why wouldn't they start to rebel against whatever government allows what's happening? People are stupid, but as long as they can write on paper they can communiticate without using the internet. So yes, AI is a massive threat and we all should be afraid. But the economy always needs a buyer to thrive. A great product is cheap to produce (best if you just need ONE copy that you can sell infinitifely (digital stuff)), affordable for people, something people WANT and maybe something they would need to pay again for (like an abo, leasing, etc.). If nobody buys, because nobody earns any money... you've got nothing to sell. Even if you would sell water or air... if people cannot buy because they do not have money, they'd just die and leave you with even less customers. And while the rich catering to the rich would work for a certain amount of time, ultimately profits would be stagnant. So you will need to adress the question: what will these ever growing companies SELL and to WHOM will they sell it, if 90% or more of humanity loses their jobs. And if they just get money from the wellfare system... at some point this will be the money you put into that wellfaresystem yourself as these companies. An infinite economy is a lie, because a) there are not infinite resources and b) there are not infinite buyers. At some point humanity will need to adjust to this truth. And let us all hope that we will come to the conclusion that we work because we want to. Even though there is an AI that could do it better. And that we do not need money anymore, because we moved beyong the point of needing it.
