There was a video put out from MattVideoPro AI that talks about how the training data for most AI is from sites where the terms and conditions specifically say the site has the permission to sell or use anything you upload. People have complained about this in the past, but still chose to upload their work there anyway. Check the TOC at a lot of these places.
Also, regarding open source… that’s literally what open source IS. It can be used for anything without permission. Just like Linux was originally released for free, then a bunch of companies took the source code, added to it, and started selling it.
