these prophets sound like climate change alarmists. Climate Change dooms day prophets have been telling us for 60+ years that we've hit a point of no return. And what happened? They set a new doomsday to scare the next generation of linguine spined kids to still listen to them while the world is still turning. I think the same is with AI.
AI will enable people to be more productive. Just like the power tool enabled builders to build faster, same with AI. Employers will just require workers to output twice more with the power of AI.
We've had self-checkout machine for at least a decade now. They work great if you have 5 items, but when your cart is loaded you avoid self-checkouts like the plague, because then you realize those require far more labor than just having a human check things out for you.
