This conversation rubs me the wrong way. It is fear based on lack of understanding. Lack of understanding is scary, but shouldn't be used to breed fear.
For example, the article posted by Anthropic that was referred to in the conversation was extremely flawed and reeks of sensationalism for the sake of increased attention.
I think the fear of AI superintellgence props up the companies that rely on this belief to keep investments coming.
