I blame Wired and the book "Out of Control" for both whipping up the hype around the "Singularity" bs but especially for injecting this insane Technolibertarianism into Politics which have lead to the current catastrophic Fascisms in the US
I realized this when I was teaching that book at Carnegie Mellon of all places - and I saw a video of Newt Gingrich in the halls of Congress with that book in his hands
