I mostly agree with you.
A.I. is a two-edge sword. On the one hand it can be a boon for the idea guy that lacks the talent to produce his/ her vision. For that I have no problems with it. Not everyone has the time to learn to draw, and not everyone is keen to figure out how to produce art within their chosen media.
On the other hand, I do agree with you about the thief. A lot of the art borrowed from those A.I. dark fantasy was from Frank Franzetti, Arthur Rackham, and Michel Whalen. Perhaps that is what the whole thing was made for-- thief. For a creation tool, it creates like suck, but man can it steal really well. A thing is going to excel at whatever it was made to do but will need constant help, at whatever being added on or forced to do [example computer and video games]. The very notion that it needs constant supply of other created media, and not formulas regarding shapes and colors, really should tell us what the real purpose.
Thief.
I know it sounds like I am over thinking it, but that what the NFTs were-- they were a scam to steal media and information from the everyday online person. If you know what the NFTs actually were and what they actually wanted, it will horrify you. I strongly believe the A.I. push happened because NFTs failed. Marketers, companies, and possibly governments wanted cheap and easy ways to make ads and content without the person or even the human input. This is another scam that blew up in their faces.
But alas just like the internet, computer, t.v. and spam the everyday person took it and is morphing it into something else. Apart from the thief, the average artist really doesn't have to worry about A.I. art because it is another media (or rather it will become another media since it can't create). Art is the vision of the creator condensed to a media. A.I. is just a tool and the Utopia morons are gonna have to square themselves with that.
The only artist A.I. can hurt is the wannabe. The artist that chooses to stay stagnant, the ones that rejects outside influences and lessons, the ones that lack passion unless it fits within their egos. These are the type of artist that create templates that are usually imitations of others or what is popular at the time. A.I. art directly competes with them since they are both, in a way, doing the same thing, but then again, the ones that are the most affected are also the types to flock to it because it's easier.
In case you haven't realized that is what you are arguing against. It isn't about you "hating technology" or even about tech stans, this is about laziness pure and simple. These are people that want to make something epic but not put in the work for it. And what is more least than typing a general idea.
Nice video.
