People get so worked up about ai that they stop thinking logically. My view is that the legitimacy of ai art is based on the amount of skill, effort, and the degree to which it is used. For example if you're making digital art and you crop and move an element of the painting, then use an ai fill tool to fill in the gap, that doesn't completely negate all the other skill and effort that goes into the piece. And then there's the idea that these artists are simply typing in prompts. I find it hard to believe that a professional level program would only allow prompts and not have any more fine tuned tools for creating art. Finally, given the ubiquity of ai technology nowadays, how could one be sure that every program, tool, or reference image was completely untouched by ai in any way shape or form? Like if I were to draw on pencil and paper using a magazine as a reference, perhaps some of the photos in the magazine were touched up using ai assisted color correction software or something?
