The argument that AI art is similar to digital art reminded me of a video on Smash Bros controller mods funnily enough: specifically what makes a modification legal or illegal in competition. The idea was that legal mods (notched joystick angles, shortened button presses) still showcased the skill of the player because the player was the one preforming the action, whereas with illegal modes (turbo buttons, prewritten input strings) did not showcase player skill because it was the controller performing the action. It’s the same thing with AI vs digital art. Genuinely don’t understand people who make the argument.
