Even setting aside the matter of copyright, I don't know why AI "artists" would expect to be able to charge "industry standard" licensing fees. The whole point of generative AI is that it makes it easy for anyone, regardless of skill or talent, to generate vast quantities of this stuff. The easier it is to make, and the more of it there is, the cheaper it gets. AI art is devaluing ALL art, including itself.
That's the punchline to the joke of generative AI - the users pushing it are screwing themselves over just as hard as they're screwing over actual artists and creators.
