As a Presidential candidate myself, who owns a Tesla model S, it’s hard to make an argument that a car that is not full self driving should held liable in most cases. We as drivers should have operating control over our vehicles. While these stories are heart breaking, no reasonable person should believe that Tesla cars autopilot is perfect. The crash data should be made available, but in most cases Tesla should not be liable if the car was in autopilot, but could have been course corrected by the operator.
