Of course, we COULD just go the way of letting AI and robots work every job that we don't want to do for us, creating a moneyless utopia where we are free to pursue arts, sports, craftsmanship, science, everything we like without being bound by constrictions of money, food, housing; taking pride in our achievements instead of the money we have earned with it...
...but on the other hand, the next quarter is coming up, the shareholders want their free money, my son Timmy longs for his new piece of PewPewBang(TM) plastic software that costs 80 dollars, and I need to treat myself with an overpriced meal at a blingy restaurant that won't fill the growing void in my heart of not working at the things I actually want to work on. But at least I can tell them I earn enough money to eat out!
