I think there's a niche for AI art, but as with other forms of media, only something that takes in genuine work and creativity, and that can't be done better with other means will shine.
There was a tiktok trend a year ago where they replaced frames of someone dancing with images of statues in the same pose. The result was a chaotic video of a dancing statue, which looked really neat, and was like nothing I'd ever seen before. I think there's a future for this sort of inventive use of AI.
