IMO, we DON'T need UBI. Ubi is bad because that money could be spent on... well.. anything. We need secure housing, food, water, electricity for lighting, enough to LIVE. From *there* we should earn the rest ourselves, unless whatever we want is so incredibly cheap that it might as well be free.
That's what automation should go towards imo, making everything cheaper and cheaper until it's so cheap companies can give it out like candy. Whether that's electricity, or clothes, or whatever it may be.
