I like to compare it to watchmakers. A handmade mechanical watch is a true work of art. every little gear, spring and screw is carefully made and assembled. Yes surely you can simply buy a small digital watch which is accurate sleek and easy to manufacture in mass, but it only serves a function, it is not art. So i think AI-Image generation should be viewed as a tool not as art. If i want to generate 500 slightly different images in the same style it would be tedious to draw them by hand, but if i want one or a few images for their artistic value i would never generate them using AI.
