As much as I respect and admire Senator Sanders ... on this point he is dead wrong. We are at the beginning stages of a technological revolution, just like we were when the PC was first introduced, just like we were when the Internet was unveiled. As in every evolution there is both a cost and a benefit. Between now and the end of 2028 on a Global Basis 85 Million jobs will be lost while 97 Million jobs will be created; a net increase of 12 Million Jobs. However, those jobs that are 100% done on a laptop will be consigned to AI which can do the same job for pennies on the dollar. The nature of work will shift towards activities requiring human judgement, ethics, creativity, and interpersonal connections. For jobs such as: heavy equipment operators, craftsmen, construction, transportation, material handling, and many other professions that are not dependent on computer code will only marginally (if at all) will feel the impact of AI. Scripted work gets automated, strategic judgement stays: new roles will emerge to manage, oversee, and work alongside AI. I have no axe to grind here; I'm not a billionaire (not by a looonnnggg stretch). Just a guy who is trying to maintain a low profile and make an honest dollar.
