Well For one, the art those AIs are trained on was taken without consent of the artist or whoever put it online. So, like, that's deeply shitty already when these tools are then sold for profit, before even going into the finished product. For another, no, jobs will probably not be lost because for many people art is more than just buying something pretty. Also, if nobody ever gave new input to a machine (because all artists starved were laid off), it would stop creating new/significantly different outcomes. And then: yes, humans will usually copy from each other to get started in art, but the really good ones usually develop their own style after however many hours spent doing their art. What an AI will produce is usually an imitation of a well-known style or an incoherent mishmash of whatever. In the end, it'll be a question of what people will want to spend money or time on, but in my opinion AI art will not replace sentient artists anytime soon. It might become a tool used for roguh approximations or sheapskates, but what else is new.
