Chat gpt's image generation saved me from a HUGE pain in the ass when I needed a token for a character that was 1 phase out of 4 or so. I needed a grumpy-looking old scientist and literally nowhere could I find smth like that online drawn in a 16-bit style (to keep cohesion with the rest of the world). Unless I wanted dr wily. But in casr THAT needs saying, I did not because he's a part of a pretty tragic scene. Now some smarmy self-righteous prick who will only ever embolden ai bros might start mouthing off that I should have made it myself or commissioned an artist. My answer is this: i am already paying for everything needed to run the game, and a fairly expensive one too, out of the passion for the game. Do you not feel any shame trying to basically exploit my passion? I have respect for artists to not ask free work from them (even the ones in my game). You clearly do not share that same respect towards me. Sure I could have figured out pixel art for that I guess. But then that takes away from my time i use to make the shit I'm actually good at which my players enjoy. Mind you, it was still AWFUL, that fucking thing works like a narcoleptic mule and struggled a lot to break away from dr wily. But there is a place for ai image generation. It's just not as the main point of the artistic piece.
