"This is my art from when i was a beginner and as you can see it's clear I had no special blood..."
respectfully, as a fellow artist, I heavily disagree with the idea that talent doesn't exist. Your early art compared to mine is a perfect example of that. Your penstrokes even as a beginner were more confident and better controlled than mine often are today after 20 years of drawing almost every day and studying the greats, and my art as a beginner makes your first real pieces truly impressive in comparison. Please don't sell yourself short.
That doesn't mean I shouldn't do art- i reject the notion that it is impossible for someone to learn to create art and I'm a perfect example of how perseverance and patience, along with approaching art as a fun activity (stopping for the day if the process stops being enjoyable) rather than a means to an end, can result in someone with little natural talent for art building up the skills over time. Drawing my own characters is so fun! I love the control I have over the little details- the tiny little things that AI or a commissioned artist unfamiliar with the character would miss, and the very human imperfections and habits of my artstyle that supports the type of characters I create- flawed, imperfect beings- and radiates, i hope, that same sense of charm.
I'll never be as 'good' at art as those friends of mine that were born into artist families, but I have fun with it nonetheless and have so much freedom to express myself and ideas i find interesting because of it.
I'mma use this space also to point out that talent generally takes a ton of skill to use to its fullest extent. If someone never uses their talent they will typically fall behind those who practice and use their skills every day. Just because someone like you is super talented, doesn't mean you're not also skilled or that you haven't had to work hard as hell to get to where you're at. For example, a headstart in a race is absolutely helpful, but it's still possible for those without that headstart to outpace them; someone with a headstart still needs to be fast enough to defend their first place. Someone with a headstart might even run slower because they feel secure in their lead, leading to the others catching up and passing more easily.
Point being, not only are you talented, Lavender, you're also an incredibly skilled artist and a determined learner of your artform. Both can be true.
Also as others have noted, that commenter's writing isn't half bad and, given plenty of effort, they could become an author! Unlike what some might say, writing is very much art and some of my best art pieces are just little short stories I've written about a character or the *story* a piece of mine may tell. My friends care more about the characters my art portrays than the art itself because that's what I'm better with at the moment
