The usage of copyright material in training is transformative. This isn't just my opinion... more than one judge has said so.
A model reproducing content verbatim at the user's request is the responsibility of the user. Any other approach is simply an effort by copyright holders to avoid their responsibility to enforce their copyrights against actual offenders. The same way rights holders tried to use ISPs to enforce their rights for them. History is littered with tech like AI that copyright holders have tried to control because they were lazy... they always ultimately fail. VHS, DVD, Peer to peer networks... even YouTube itself.
Everyone HATES copyright law when it comes to YouTube... but become copyright sycophants when AI is involved. You guys do realize it's the SAME LAW right? You're just handing more power and control to OTHER billionaires... and taking it away from the average person.
