I agree with you, Dr. Zuboff, to a point. But your last statement: "surveillance capitalism is twenty years old. And democracy is several centuries old. I bet on democracy," appears too optimistic once you look at the facts. Our system has always been a struggle with the enemies of democracy here in America and it's obvious that will never change. Had you stated such and added we may curtail most of the intrusions of our nemesis but our corrupt system is built on past failures to comply with the Constitution and Bill of Rights. And our elected officials in this democracy sold us out long ago, and little can be expected that may prove beneficial in the future, may have been more accurate. Nice try though. After all, we need an occasional "pep-talk" to make us feel relevant.
