Risk of extinction? We are already well on the path of extinction ourselves.
I envision that we will give AI the mission of keeping us around for as long as possible, but that will not be enough. There will come a day when the last humans are dying, and we will need to hand the keys to civilization over to AI. It comforts me to think that something of our legacy will be around to remember us.
