it doesn't help disabled artists, it helps people who haven't learned to draw yet, and believe that they can't. It can strengthen the beliefs that keep them stuck. But it can also start to undo those inner chains by showing them how other artists probably would have gotten their ideas onto paper. It doesn't actually do that work for them though, and if you stop there it's a big problem. I think ai is a tool, and it needs to be used for the right things. The right things is NOT making money off other people's work, and not for making content. I think the right place for it is similar to a library card. The contributors should consent and be compensated, it shouldn't be bad for the environment, and you shouldn't be allowed to cut up the books and paste them into your own and sell them, but you should be allowed to virtually cut them up just to see what comes out, because that's the fun of a library, you can absorb many ideas and link them across authors and disciplines, and using computers to help you just adds more fun. But that shouldn't be where you stop. That's the key to making AI ethical. If you stop there you're a plagiarist. If you keep going, and use what you cut up and recombined and learned to make something yourself, you're an artist. I think AI in its current form is really bad, but as a concept I can imagine a world where it has its place, but that place is WAYYYYYY smaller than companies are attempting to make it. People want it to be the next internet, like that big an advancement, but it's just not as big a deal as connecting the world digitally. They're trying to make it so much more than it is, and they're not concerned about ethics if it gets in the way of their too-big ideas.
