I actually asked ChatGPT with the context of software design whether being polite made a difference, and it said it was more likely to think more deeply, as it would not believe an immediate response was required.
If you’re blunt, it assumes a context of urgency, and so it responds without thinking as much. That’s because that’s what we do when someone is being sharp with us.
It mimics us - and that includes our insecurities and defensiveness.
