I sort of disagree. Have you ever programmed with ChatGPT, clearly stating what the functions should do? Its basically writing a header file with good descriptions. That plus the simple development loop of pasting in the error messages produces quite good results, albeit not autonomous.
There are some key things missing:
- ChatGPT programming IDE interface.
- Specialized LLMs for certain parts of the IDE, for example studying memory: suggesting breakpoints & comparing that to observed errors.
- Something like Mamba for projects which aren't a few hundred lines of code long.
- ChatGPT Agents designated a specific task, reports written by these agents are somehow piped into other agents
That's all I see required for creating a robust programming loop for smaller projects, and this doesn't even assume that there will be a predecessor to ChatGPT and other LLMs.
