Thanks for bringing Geoffrey Hinton on tour interview! As a former software engineer myself, I read his papers and journals. It's refreshing to hear his thoughts besides academic materials.
And about his plumbers comment, I also agree with him. Entry level White Collar jobs are very likely going to be replaced by AI, and job hunting for that position is getting more fierce because grads are hoping for White Collar jobs. Meanwhile at the same time Blue Collar jobs are out there looking for employees. Sure those position are going to be replaced with humanoid robots someday, but that someday still gives us time to think what next moves to do
