Google engineer fired for being idiot. The AI is not sentient. Not even close. Maybe he did more, but a machine giving a frequentist answer based on the data is not sentience. Responding with a canned joke given uncertainty about an answer is not sentience.
Maybe he should have focused on ethics instead of making bold and incorrect statements to the media. He wanted to engage the public, but just made a mess of the conversation.
Would love to see the paper that supports his claim that the AI is just seeking informed consent.
