I use Codex regularly now, and it’s honestly shocking how good it is. While I was checking for new DevOps jobs a few days ago, I stumbled across a job posting for programmers. The criteria said applicants must be proficient with Claude Code and Codex, along with 8+ years of coding experience. It wasn’t just one posting either. A few job openings were asking for the same thing. It feels like solid coding skills and real experience are still essential, but now there’s an extra requirement too: being proficient with AI tools.
