I love this idea so much, seeing as it could legitimately save someone being put into prison for a crime that was AI generated in the first place (because it would be obviously AI). I also feel that self respecting generative AI models should at LEAST put metadata inside of an AI image, and that social media companies use that metadata to display to everyone that the image is AI generated. I think normal metadata probably wouldn't work, because people could easily remove that but I'm sure that there is some steganographic function that could bake in the metadata into the image so that it is harder to remove, (just like nightshade baking in artifacts), and then still being able to read the metadata and display to the world the image is AI generated.
