If we try to create an artificial intelligence and it is not completely alien to us then we have failed.
Trying to create AI using human sapience as a baseline is a horrible idea, it will likely just make more humans. Humans, as a rule, are gleefully murderous xenophobes. It takes culture, learning and effort to overcome such base instinct and we have yet to succeed as a species.
