One thing I don't understand with the argument against AI art- Let's say, I- as a human being- browse the internet and look at pictures all over it of things I like, such as . . . let's just say Starships from various franchises. I then decide to make own ship, based on the designs I've seen of other ships. My "dataset" is all the pictures I've seen that are of starships, so I'm drawing my inspiration from those, and I create something similar, but not something that has been created before. That seems to be ok. But when we build a machine capable of the same thing, it is not ok. Why? Is not the creation of a machine capable of such a thing a form of art in and of itself? If it is not reproducing exact copies of art, but simply drawing from them to create an original piece, is it not doing the same thing that other artists have done for centuries?
