I totally agree with the idea of having an "opt-in" like you said, as copyright protection is important for all forms of art. That said, I'm having trouble connecting the dots between "human artist's art is put into AI databank and reproduced commercially" to "human artist can't make money." I'm not an artist and I'm completely ignorant to all the avenues with which artists make money, but as someone who follows hundreds of artists it seems like the main thing is they post much of their art online for free and then have things like patreon or other ways to donate/pay for extra art or bonuses that are tangential to the main art that's posted for free. So I'm not understanding how the existence of AI art stealing is going to do something like pull subscribers away from patreon. Again I'm super ignorant to this and want to be on the side of the artists, I'm just stuck on this one aspect, if anyone can enlighten me on exactly how this copyright infringement is specifically harmful I would appreciate it.
