This is an adjustment period. Companies who let go of a lot of workers will likely find their productivity fall as the technology beds in. This will be mostly due to an overestimation of AI’s abilities: use of AI in inappropriate settings, manifestations of common weaknesses such as hallucinations with not enough humans who understand company systems to detect and correct errors. Some companies will not be able to retrieve themselves from the mess.
