For me, digital art is just another medium by which you do normal art. Like how painting vs coloring with crayons are different mediums but they're both considered art and have very similar concepts of hand-picking colors, drawing, forming shapes to convey an image, feeling, etc. Also like how there's drawing vs sculpting. Both are considered art, just that one is done by making shapes out of a solid material while the other is done on a surface. You could also think about chalk art (not on traditional paper but still art), graffiti (art but usually done on walls), people who paint on everyday objects, etc. There are so many forms of art that are actual handiwork to form shapes that convey images/feelings and digital art really is no different. AI art on the other hand is something I consider soulless because it doesn't use that same thoughtfulness or consideration and is just used for a fast, lazy, pretty picture in the end. It has no personal characteristics (because it's stolen work from actual artists) and just lacks the nuances of actual artists' work. I will say, I think the main issue I personally have with AI is the fact that the majority of the art in its system are stolen artworks from actual artists that never consented for their art to be used in these AI programs. If there is an AI program that pays consenting artists to generate artwork based on their work and have that as an available option for people to use, I probably won't have half the problem I have with it now. But then again, the other half is that there is no real personal effort into AI art so someone calling AI art "my artwork" is just stupid 'cause it ain't your artwork, it's someone else's art style you're borrowing to make something you find pleasing to the eye.
