Why are you calling it AI? We've had widely available image-recogition and face-tracking and stuff for over a decade.
Also, "AI-powered audio detection"?? Literally just check whether the audio volume is significantly higher than average, and then average shorter segments of audio after that, and check whether it drops off in a way that makes sense. In a less abstract way. I just don't know the specifics of what it making sense looks like. Like, I could literally write half of that code in less than a day if I felt motivated to do so, and had the energy, and I know very little about audio, and not much about conventional programming.
This stuff is, at most, machine-learning or a neural network. And those words are WAY bigger and flashier than what they refer to.
Referring to creatures' behavior in games as AI was ok. It was basically never accurate, but at least it was still only used in communities that were likely to at least vaguely understand what it meant.
And now, the meaning of AI has become [qualitative word that fits here gramatically] detached from it's original meaning, in both scope, quality, and especially versatility.
It seems to me like people are only buying stuff that has words like AI in them, either because they dont understand what that actually means or because they think they can sell it for more money than they bought it for, to people who don't understand what it means.
Even I can see this, and I haven't lived long enough to be able to think of anything equivalent. Yet the audience that is seemingly being targeted with AI the most (or maybe just the average, which would make this part of my argument fall apart a little.) are people in their 30's and 40's, and those people would presumably have lived long enough to at least be sceptical! like, they got the date of y2k wrong. They should know that sensationalism about software is exaggerated.
Side tangent on the y2k, its actually on the 17th of january, 2036, if I remember correctly. you can look it up. Y2036K, I think is what they call it. And it probably won't be that significant. The possible readers of this have too broad of a range of understandings of computers for me to be able to communicate how it works.
If you disagree with stuff I'm saying, do share. If my opinion sucks, I'd rather find a better hill than die on this one. I don't want to be stuck at a local maximum.
