People were arguing for or against the idea that a piece of technology could ever become aware and therefore constitute artificial intelligence: then the debate vanished for some reason when someone invented an advanced piece of software which they branded "Artificial Intelligence": then people acted as if there was such a thing as artificial intelligence, just because that technology was capable of an advanced level of automatic computation, so to speak. Intelligence, as he says, presupposes awareness. There is no such thing as artificial intelligence its just a brand name.
