At night a human driver would have likely struck the woman as well. In the daytime, probably not.
I figured the self driving car would have been able to detect the person as if it were daytime with all the different systems the vehicle is equipped with.
Either way, the pedestrian was still at fault in this situation as they didn't seem to be in any rush to get across the road in what was probably not the safest location to cross...
