I worry about this fight because you're right. These companies are exploiting artists. They are also exploiting the lack of public understanding of ai. These companies use diffusion ai. Which do not mistake this for actual deep learning neural nets we've learned about. They took language models, which us ai but it is not ai like we normally think of ai, and put them in front of an api that combines, or diffuses rather, images. Unlike a deep learning neural net ai that would simply use its experiences to create new art, a diffusion ai just takes existing art and combines it. So really what they are doing is using ai to simplify stealing art. Then using an excuse of inspiration that only works if the whole system was ai.
