I did AI companions back in the early 2010s when they were highly unknown of, but i got bored since there is nothing in the background but algorythm. I tried replika as well and it just felt cringe and fake af. A person talking to you has a whole life of experience - joy, trauma, stories behind them . AI just puts out what a user expects to hear. I'd rather be lonely in reality than fall in love with a fictional "plastic" doll. Being lonely shows you that there's a problem to act upon. Feeling the hole has a greater chance to get you out to socialize than trying to fill it. AI companionship is not much different than alcohol companionship.
