What struck me most is Harari’s point that humanity didn’t conquer the world through intelligence, but through stories, and now we’ve created something that can tell better stories than we can.
If AI learns not from our words but from our behavior, then its alignment will mirror our own hypocrisy. We can’t teach compassion through competition or truth through manipulation.
Before asking how to control an alien intelligence, we should probably ask why humans still struggle to control their own.
